I really hate to leave bad reviews, because I always take the time to leave good reviews. I love to see feedback when buying products or using a company as it really helps me make my decision. However, when I receive bad service, I feel the need to let others know my experience. Vicki Schamaun has done mine and my Husbands tax return for the last 2 years. Since day one, we've had issues. She's forgetful (I have to give her the same information over and over). She's not organized. Mind you, our tax return is not an easy one. We have a lot of documentation to provide other than just our regular W2's. This year, we had to file 2 extensions!. I've never had to do that before. My biggest frustration is the lack of communication. Instead of staying on top of things, she would let time fly by. Because the documentation we need to provide is time consuming, we had to file the 1st extension. However, after providing her with everything, we assumed all was well. We never heard back from her. So months later - we need to file the 2nd extension. The deadline for the 2nd ext. was 10/15. She calls that SAME DAY requesting "additional" info. We couldn't provide it to her in 3 hours (before the 4pm deadline). When I asked her why it took her so long to get back to us, her response "We prepare returns on a first in first out basis, so when yours came up, I noticed info was missing" (I have the emailed response). Well, we couldn’t provide it, BUT SOMEHOW a miracle I guess happened, and she was able to complete the return and called to tell us “you owe $6000, that needs to be paid by 4pm, or we will assume that you are delinquent or will file on your own”. Just like that. We had no documentation in front of us to show us the breakdown or anything. My Husband and I are both working and trying to deal with all this. Trying to figure out where we will get the $6000 in 3 hours. Needless to say, we were not happy, but knew what we had to take care of the payment. After it was paid, I emailed Hal Holtman to let him know my frustrations and the sloppy work that Vicki had provided. I did let him know that the last 2 years have been a headache with her and we will probably have to take our business elsewhere. His email response back exactly "I am sorry we have not met your expectations. I believe a departing is warranted". I've worked with many CPA's, & have NEVER been treated this way. No more, we are done. They are super expensive for the sloppy work we receive. It's not justified. My suggestion: is if you have a difficult tax return, save the headaches and frustration and go elsewhere.
